Best way to air up tires?
Just curious what people are using to add air to low tires when they are on a trip. Portable jump pack with an inflated, or a 12V compressor? I'm not sure a 12V compressor would reach from the truck to a TT tire. In my experience in Montana most gas stations have air, but 75% of the time it is 'out of order'

Easy enough to make a 12 volt extension wire , or a set of clips to connect the 12 volt pump to the trailer battery.
That's what I did and carried it in my four fifth wheels.

I have the Viair 88P. Very compact and lightweight but powerful. Aligator clips hook right up to my TT battery and reaches truck and trailer no problem. Great little pump. Can't remember what I paid for it but I think it was around $60.

What tires are you needing to add air too? My truck and trailer tires never need air. If you have trailer tires needing air then you need to re-seat them and or get new valve stems.

Only thing I can think of is leaving the Florida Keys in February where it's 85 degrees and going homer to say Quebec where it's -10. I can see having to bump the tire pressures a couple times on that trip. Other than that Cumminsfan is right, if you are having to add air mid-trip, you have leakage issues.

I use the Viair 74p, keep it in my quad, along with a plug kit. That being said, thank-fully never had to use it for a leaky tire on trailer or TV. I always check pressures at home before we head anywhere, always right up.

This is a really good air compressor. I have been using it for 5 years. It always works great. I installed a plastic junction box like this one on each side of the Minnie. It makes a good place to clip the compressor on. The power wire is protected by an inline 30 amp fuse.

I have the viar 88 and I guess I expected too much from it. I tried to bump all my truck tires from 50 to 80 for towing and it took about an hour and a half. That thing will get hot enough to burn off your fingerprints too.

Thanks for the input. I should clarify that I don't have an air leak (I hope not, I just put 4 brand new tires on!). I just like to be prepared when I'm on the road away from home.

I have a 10 pound Powertank. It will air up all my tires with no electric cord. Fast and easy to get me off the freeway or just top them off. It's really for emergency fill.

I have a Ryobi 18v compressor. Works great and no cord to plug in. I keep two batteries that are more than enough for my drill, hand vac, and air compressor on any trip.

This battery powered DeWalt compressor works well for me since I already have the batteries - https://www.lowes.com/pd/dewalt-12-v...waAjVyEALw_wcB

I use the Kobalt 12/120 volt air compressor. It's rated to 120psi but since I only need 85 psi for the RV tires, it works great and tops off my tires quickly.
