Black Fresh Water

A strange problem occurred which has me puzzled. I used bleach to sanitize the water system (this may or may not be relevant). We were camping without hookups and the cold water in the kitchen would come our black, almost ink black, then clear then black etc. The water in the fresh water tank was completely clear. The hot water in the kitchen was always clear, as was the water from the filtered water faucet (Everpure filter). The water in the bathroom was always clear. Next, we camped at a place with hook ups and the same thing happened. After a few days, everything seemed to be fine and all water was clear. Does anyone have any idea as to why this occurred?

Your water filter canister is disintegrating. Remember that most filters are made from carbon or some derivative of carbon and are black in color. Change the filter and all should be good again.
