Black tank Mystery
OK guys figure this out when my black tank gets maybe a week usage all pee and water as I use the bath house toilet the grey water comes up in the lowest point which is the shower drain and as soon as I drain my black tank all is fine and no grey water from either of the two sinks comes up in shower. That don't make any sense to me as the black tank should be separate from the grey tank and the only water coming up in shower is from the sinks. sure would like to know what is going on here any help is appreciated .

Sounds like your shower is plumbed into the black tank. Some RV mfgrs. do that because some RV owners do not add enough water to the black tank to prevent clogging.
Foretravel MH's only have one waste tank, but I think yours has at least one black and one grey tank.

I'm surprised that Foretravel would do that. Seems like a violation of some states sanitation laws as well as RVIA standards. But I could be wrong as I've never really researched it.

When my gray tank is full, it will start to come up the shower drain. You said the black tank got a week's usage. How long ago did you drain the gray?

Your Cougar trailer has a 30 gal grey and a 30 gal black so plumbing shower drain to black vs grey would not be out of bounds.
Very easy to check........after dumping both grey & black leave grey tank drain open and go run shower full stream. Does water come out of grey drain?
Then close grey and open black....got water draining now?
Kitchen sink and bathroom sink are typically the highest water users .......most activity.
Plumbing restrictions could also be reason to drain shower to black tank.....easier to run vs plumbing it to grey.

Dumb question, is the gray valve closed (i.e. Is the black backfilling the gray?)

I can't imagine any manufacturer draining the shower to the black tank as the shower is low point and gets any overflow. Yuk... Bathroom vanity yes, some RV are plumbed to the black tank. Our first coach was this way.

Thanks for the expert help and I drained both tanks and then left grey tank open and ran shower full blast and no water came out of grey tank however it ran out of black tank and to me that is strange because I have to dump black tank before it is full and every one says to wait until full to dump black tank and that is why the sink water was coming up in the shower . Guess I will just open black tank when shower starts backing up Thanks again for you help.

Yes you are correct as I have found out from Biscuit on his post I do have a grey and a black water tank however I now have to drain my black tank before it is full and maybe that is not a problem. Thanks for the help.

I keep grey valve open mostly and when I close it after a few days there is water in it however I am Not sure if it is black water or grey and it looks like the gray water tank is darker and worse looking that that black tank

Well it looks like you are correct however I just don't like it because I have to drain my black tank before it gets full or sink water will come up in shower

Bathroom sink water comes up in shower.........
Shower water came out of black tank when testing where water drained to......
Sounds like bathroom drains to black tank.....bathroom sink/shower/toilet.
If water is backing up into shower then black tank is FULL

Hate to ask something so obvious, but are you sure the tank you have identified as black isn't really the grey and vice-versa?
