Border removal, sticky left behind

I've removed the ugly border in our TT that clashes with the interior fabrics. Does anyone know the best way to remove the sticky layer left behind? I'm thinking of trying GooGone but worried it will impact the "wallpaper" still on the walls.

I used googone. Worked fine. Use the foam type, let it sit to do its job. Rub gently. Be prepared to do it a couple times.
