I lost 1 a couple years ago. That one never quite fit in there right to begin with so it was on borrowed time. My guess is they just wear down over time and the stock ones are not real great to begin with. I bought the "locking" type that you push the centers in and it wedges itself in there. Much better design.

Good luck with that.

I found that my originals started getting very loose, and on a trip last fall one of them fell out while we were driving. Didn't like that trend, so I got the Camco anti-bug bumper caps with a "saver" cable. Even if the cap falls out, it will still hang on and you won't lose it. Look for Camco 40324. I don't think they sell them in a 2-pack, unfortunately.

It happened to my wife and I with our travel trailer. Have a spare one now since we upgraded to a Class A.

I solved this problem on our first 5w, then the 2nd and now the 3rd. Drill a small hole at the end of the bumper down thru the cap and insert a gutter spike, you can either use a long drill bit that goes all the way thru top and bottom or carefully locate bottom hole for alignment. cut off the spike to correct length if you like. A little touch up paint and you are good to go. I have seen a number of campers going down the road with sewer hose sliding out the end of that hollow bumper.

After losing a few many years ago, I now drill a hole completely thru the bumper and the caps and insert a long carriage screw thru both of them, also a small chain attached to the bumper, I have used small nuts and bolts. But the long carriage bolts work best for me.

Back when common sense used, bumper end caps had a protrusion that fit into holes drilled into the bumper. Now the trailers are built so cheap that they will not take one minute to drill the holes.

Here are the caps that I am talking about:

I made pins for a positive attachment, yes, I need to retake the photo.

THat photo is good enough to get a good idea how the pins can work. I have the Camco bug-screen type caps, and I'll be figuring out a way later today to make sure they stay put while going down the road. Probably just drill small holes, a little bit of paint to prevent rust, and use some stainless steel wire to hold them in place.

I made the pins out of 304 stainless steel. They are bent so that there is a bit of spring tension where the loop is in the center hole of the cap. You have to drill them a bit off center so that you miss the web inside the cap. I drilled the caps in all four positions so that they can be oriented in any position.

I made my pins out of 1/16" stainless welding rod... free from my son, the welder. I made a lanyard out of 1/4" rope to go around the hose and pass the pin through it, so the hose is never up in there so far I can't reach it. On the door side I just put the pin in and bent the ends over so it will not come out. On the street side, I made it removable to get the hose out.
