Bunk or No Bunk?

My Wife and I have been looking for TT's this last month and we could use some of your opinions about whether to buy a TT that has bunks or not.

We have a 9 year old boy and a 6 year old girl. Naturally, we looked at TT's with bunks but then we discussed future needs when they are teenagers, so we then looked at bunkhouses with a slide that doubles as an entertainment area.

To get that slide bunk area, you have to go to a 31'+ TT and while my truck and our finances can handle it, do we really need this? Would we be better off with a TT that has a MB and a larger living area that sleeps say 4 or even 6 people.

My son at 9 years old is 100 lbs. already and has the same big shoulders my Dad gave to me. They look great on a football field or hockey rink but suck everywhere else! and I know those bunks will bother him in a few years.

I see us using this TT 12 or so times a year and as much as we would like to have guests, busy lives and schedules will probably only bring guests 2-3 times a year.

With the above being said, what is your experience? Do you have bunks and would not live without them? Do you wish you bought a unit with bunks? or regret buying a unit with bunks?

Thank you for any and all responses.

we did the bunks (first twin beds in a TT and then double beds in a 5er).
once our son got older and couldn't sit up in the bunk anymore, we switched to a MH with sofa bed - that he helps to make and to knock down.
would have liked a new 5er with the bunk/slideout entertainment room - but the tow vehicle wasn't enough.

Our son was 11 when we purchased a trailer with bunks. He brought a friend one time. In about a year he was complaining of the bunk being too confining and starting sleeping on the sofa. For us the bunks were a bust.
