Cable Hookups at a campground

We generally stay in state parks with no cable hookups. Normally don't want to watch tv while camping. But, this next week, we are going into the Smoky Mountains for spring break. We are staying at a campground just outside the National Park, and they have cable. It just so happens that baseball Opening Day and the Master's are next week, so I will want to catch a little of both of them. One question....when they have cable hookups, do they have the "cable" to hook into the side of the camper, or do I have to take a piece of coax or something to get it hooked up? This is my first time hooking up cable to the camper. Sorry for the silly question, but I honestly don't know. Thanks in advance for your help.

You will need coax to go from the pedestal to your external connection.

Yep, you will need your own coax and depending on where the cable port is on your rig and where the pedestal is you might need several feet of it.

Going to deep creek camp ground per chance? It's about a mile outside the NP

After carrying coax of varying lengths and "splicing" them as needed, I finally settled on one 50 footer which covers every situation i have encountered.

That's what I was afraid of. You think 12' will definitely be enough, or is it like the water hose, or the powr cord and could need to be as long, or longer, than the trailer?

$15-$20 will get you a 50' roll of RG 6 cable at Home Depot, or any number of other places. I wouldn't count on 12' being enough.

Many times the cable connection is on the same pedestal as the electric.

Thanks. I thought that might be the answer. Was just trying to avoid a stop at Home Depot on the way out of town tomorrow and have a 12-15' section laying in my basement.

I carry a 100' roll of RG6. It's cheap and stores easily.

We carry three 10'-15' sections. At our last campsite we used all three.

The last site I stayed at also needed a lengthy cable. Also, if you have an antenna your camper might have an amplifier built into the wall plate. It might need to be turned off to utilize the cable hookup on the outside of the camper. Mine has a wineguard that needs to be off to use cable, little button near the cable hookup inside and a green light to let you know the antenna amplifier is on.
