You asked for an idea, so here is one. Note that I am looking at doing this myself to replace my mattress in my 5'er. Places like Walmart and Costco self foam mattresses that are anywhere from 8" to 12". They are just a piece of foam that have a cover on them. The cover may have a zipper I'm thinking of buying one of those and cutting the foam to fit. Then modify the cover to fit. Anthony

We put a topper on ours and because we don't fulltime it's worked out very well.

Serta Rejuvenator 4-inch Memory Foam Mattress Topper | Overstock.com

This ones about $100.00 but it's not the best grade. They go up from there. We used the original matress, it was pretty firm, and added the topper for a pretty good nights sleep. The Queen size is 4 inches high x 58 inches wide x 77 inches long so it stays on top.

I have one of Wally Worlds foams in our 5ver. Queen size. It's OK but a little firm for my wife so I also put on a 3" topper that was softer, she liked it! Pretty good value on it.
