My wife and I have been RV camping for a few years now and even though the RV was bought new we have never used the fresh water tank to drink from nor have we ever drank campsite water. We only use it to wash dishes and shower. We always bring spring water by the multiple gallons.... I am curious to know who else does this and who drinks the RV tank water/campsite water....

I have always used the fresh water tank for everything when not hooked to what I feel is a safe water supply. I sanitize the tank and lines annually or more and am careful where I fill it.

Not only do I have bottled water in the motor-home, but I drink bottled water at the house as well. We have a water supply to the house that is from 300 feet and treated, (smaller water system ,maybe 2000 people , well maintained)
I also have a well I drilled that is 80 ft deep (pump at 60 ft) almost pure sand most of the way. Sand filtered, non mineral , clean water probably either one is better water than the bottled, BUT I still use the bottled water to drink.
The shallow well waters 19 zones on 2 acres for about 6 hours non stop every other day and never runs out of water. I do fill my coach fresh water tank from the shallow well and I flush and chlorine the tank 3 or 4 times a year as the water is not treated.

We carry bottled water, but I do brush my teeth, take pills and the occasional drink from the fresh water tank with no ill effects. We have never bleached it.

I really don't get buy water that has sat in plastic bottles leaching out whatever the chemicals of the week are when I can get water that tastes as good or better out of the tap. When the taste is bad it's Brita time. It does help that I live in an area with no major contaminant problems like parts of the country with know levels of arsenic or similar contamination. The net result is we have some bottled jugs in case we don't like the supply but generally drink the tank.

Since last August, if I haven't been hooked up to a hose bib source of fresh water, I've been drinking out of the trailer tank. It's designed for that kind of stuff, you know. Drinking water regulations are pretty tight in the US. Any water intended for public consumption in a public water system or utility is regularly tested. I used to get regular water reports from the City of Vancouver USA even though I was on a well outside of town.

I'm fine, except for this arm growing out of my forehead, but I don't think that's related to the water at all. Nope.

I rarely use the tank for drinking, simply because I prefer alkaline water. However, I do use it for making coffee. I keep a filter on the hose that I use to filter the tank as well.

We do everything from the fresh water tank, drinking water goes through a Britta jug always. Bleach at least twice a year and more if we get into some strange smelling stuff as we did in NC a few years ago, smelled like a fish tank that had not been kept up...

I built a filter system for all the water going into the RV since I use the ice from the ice maker in the refrigerator. I do keep a Brita Pitcher in the refrigerator for cold drinking water.

I do check the campground/city water before hooking up to make sure it meets my taste test. If the water is good I will leave the water pump on so that it will use some of the water out of the tank. Before I unhook I will refill the tank keeping it fresh.

RV fresh water tank is nothing more than a LARGE Plastic Water Bottle.

Fill it with water and use it.

We use ours exclusively. We fill it and then use the pump.

If you wash dishes with that water, shower with that water etc. you might as well drink/cook with that water.

Wife fills old 2 liter bottles with water for coffee, ice maker and the pets??? If we are staying at a campground with well water (I ask when I call for reservations) I will fill our tank at home. At the next CG with city water I will replenish our fresh water tank.

I have no issue using tank water or campsite water. I do check campsite water before hooking up. Once or twice the water smelled and tasted like it was used water.

bottle water for everything except showering and flushing. We don't boondock so the fresh water tank has never been used. After everything I had to clean out of the grey tank there's no telling what they dropped into the fresh tank.
