TEX-CTD, glad you found everything useful. We try to approach the towing and weight questions with factual data and information rather than with a lot of passionate comment about towing it just fine and forget the weight. Many of us started small, made the mistakes and did not have the INTERNET as a source of information.

Hope you enjoy the new truck.

Mega cab/5er combo

I have this combination (with small kids) and love it. You can't beat the room in the cab; the short bed is a small price to pay. I don't have a slider; I just pay attention and the cap of my 5er is tapered. No, I can't do a 90 degree turn; but thus far I haven't had to. Slider vs no slider hitch is a very controversial topic (almost as much as SRW vs dually) so I thought I'd stir that pot also. Now someone can bring up Chinese tires and we'll have a complete thread!

Seriously, doing your homework like this will pay off in the end. This site was instrumental in getting the perfect combination for us. Good luck.

Ok, TEX-CTD, the Texas Boomers are having our annual Labor Day Rally just up the road from you at Burleson, Texas. You need to join in the fun and let all of us tromp through your new rig and slobber a bit. We generally remember to bring along some slobber rags to mop up.

Texas Boomers is a camping group founded in September of 2000 from 4 couples chatting on iRV2. Click the link in my signature.

Also see what we are doing HERE in the South Central Region.

It started with Baby Boomer ages, but has grown to include those older and younger.

I note that you were thinking of the B&W companion, and using a sidewinder, Don't do that. B&W has a warning on that setup. I was gong to do that with my companion until I saw the warning note, so I hsd the pin-box extended four inches to give me as much room as I could and not hit the cab. The other option is a slider hitch.

I'm also a Keystone owner and I'd have loved to have had this one Keystone Mountaineer | Floorplans when traveling around with young kids.
