Caulking in Shower / New Shower Rod

Newbie to RV ownership here. I want to caulk around our tub/shower wall liner and also mount splash guards. Can I just use standard caulk or should I use something special that can tolerate the heat when the RV is not in use?

I also am going to replace the shower rod with an extend-a-rod for extra shoulder room. It looks like I can just use the screws currently on the current rod. However, those screw are mounted horizontal to each other and the new rod needs vehicle screw orientation (one above the other. Is there anything special I should know? I am assuming that whatever is behind the current rod will provide bite for the screws in the new holes. They're very close.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

I highly recommend the Stromberg Carlson EXT-3542 Extend-A-Shower. Folds out to make a large shower room. Folds in to make the bathroom much roomier, also towels can hang on it to dry over the tub.

Yes, that's what I am installing. Just want to make sure there's no gotchas I don't know about before installing.

The way RVs are made you never know whats behind the walls. There might be a reason why the old screws are orientated horizontally. You may have to use hollow wall anchors instead of wood screws.

Mine had a wood backer where the old rod was placed. Best improvement I have done yet!

I found when I installed our extend-a-rod that the wood backing was very small. I took my best guess. At one end it worked out great. The other end - well, someday I'll be working on that, but for today, it's workin'.

It amazes me how chintzy these trailer guys can be with simple things like wood backers. They probably throw chunks of wood like that into the garbage every day, so it can't be an issue of cost.
