Child-Proofing camper screen doors

Short of putting up one of those baby gates, does anyone know of a better way to child proof those cheap flimsy screen doors that come standard on travel trailers ? The latching handle that comes on those doors are pretty much useless. You can just about push them open even with the latch closed. Any clever ways of securing those doors better ?

Use spring loaded latch hooks to keep the door closed. Use plexiglass or screen door wire mesh to keep fingers pets from tearing the plastic screen.
Another option is expandable pressure gate in front of the door. Secure 1"x1" wood strips on each side of the door to hold the gate in.Carlson Pet Products Extra Tall Tuffy Pet Gate, Metal - Walmart.com It could also be modified to be hinged.
