The battery on my TT is dead. I can tell it boiled over and some of the cells are dead. I am replacing the battery with a new one. My question is does the charger in the converter turn off at a certain voltage or will it continue producing the 13.5 volts all the time? Is the converter suppose to monitor the charging of the battery when the TT is plugged in to 120 volt source? Any help would be appreciated.

Gottago I keep power on my camper all the time but I have the battery disconected so it doesnt burn out the water. The batt is supplied by the same power that runs every thing dc so no it doesnt shut off but some of the beter converters will reduce the voltage to slow the charge rate. I think the progessive dynamics converter with the charge wizard is a pretty good combo. If we are traveling or camping I leave the batt hooked up. However I have heard some converters will not work unless the batt is connected.

If you leave your trailer plugged in a lot, the best investment you can make is in a smart converter or inverter/charger with the smart charge technology. You will pay for it with the first set of batteries burned up with the constant voltage converter. I have added water to my batteries one time in four years.
