couch size slide out

My boyfriend and I have a 29 foot Jay Flight. We just winterized it yesterday and moved it off to the side yard. It is not level in any direction but my boyfriend decided to put the slide out OUT. I told him not to as it would / could cause damage to the slide. Putting the slide out is going against the slope of the camper. He insists that having it out will be fine. He has only 3 years of rv experience. I grew up RV'ing and my parents have owned many RV's with slides. Can you please provide me with the problems that could result in having the slide out and in use when the RV is severly not level. The RV is parked to allow for run off because we live in NY state and get alot of snow and ice.
I do know that this weekend we are suppose to get rain and the way the RV is sloped, the rain water is going to head towards the slide out seal and most likely will leak into the camper
Thanks. He's not listening to me, so I feel I need proof from others.

Doesn't sound good to me, especially with slope towards TT. We have a cover on our's and slide in. I also use a ceramic heater set real low to keep it dry and above freezing. Works good for us. We have done this forr years.

Long term storage: Keep Slides in..

Uneven: Keep slides in without support... Too much unknown stress on the frame

Wendy, if he won't listen to you he likely will not believe us either, I agree with you. If the trailer was level it would probably be OK. RV dealers leave slides open all the time, but the RV is level to prevent water from draining inside.

He should put them in for storage or in the spring he will be reminded that you where right!

I live in a 5th wheel with 2 slides that have slide covers and I put them in when not at home, travel for work and am home 3-4 days a month.
