Planning our first cross country nondirect trip to FLA next spring. Nondirect because coming and going we're going to be visiting relatives. NH-KY, KY-FLA: FLA-NC, NC-NH are the current planned legs.

How many miles a day do you average and/or for you stat keepers what is your average daily MPH

Sweeper:

You do not mention the time available for your trip, so I'll assume you have lots of it as your meandering itinerary would tend to indicate.

We are retired so we're never in a hurry. Our average daily mileage is between 200 and 250 miles. We like to be on the road by 8 or 9 AM the latest and like to pull in to a campground early, around 4 PM. Our average speed does not work out too high because we will stop at anything that catches our fancy and we usually travel the "REDS" avoiding Interstates.

Makes for a nice relaxing trip.

When we have a destination in mind we want to get there as quickly as possible, so we will go 600 - 650 miles a day and overnight at Wal-Mart. I have never really calculated the avg. daily mph, but I'm guessing that with fuel and rest stops it's probably around 45mph.

We usually average about 45-46 mph for a day's travel towing the TT. Stretch, potty, dog and fuel breaks kill our mph. But isn't that partly why we do this? To take it easy.

We have towed over 800 miles in a day (with the Coleman) and over 540 in a day with a hard sided regular TT. Neither day was much fun.

300 to 350 is usually far enough in one day. I have to get out and move around every 2 hours or so. My joints stiffen too much to do more.

Good luck.

Frank

I figure stopping points by using 50mph average, which is usually quite close. I drive about 300 miles a day when there is nothing to distract us. I like to depart about 7-8AM and stop about 3PM. That way nearly all CG's have openings, and we can swim, relax, let the hot tub loosen up my abused body(retired infantry),see local attractions, etc. When in states with much to see, we may go 100 miles and stop again for x-x days.
