Disconnecting on sloped site

When I have to raise the side of the trailer quite a bit to level it, this can require me to extend the hitch post all the way when relieving pressure on the sway bars. Is there a best way to do this ( like raise truck on pads too)?

I place wood blocks under the tongue jack.

I'd chock wheels on both sides of the trailer, disconnect from the tow vehicle, and level it. If you see the site is really out of level, you could back the trailer onto blocks so you don't have to jack it so high to level it.

If your trailer has dual axles, the locking chocks that go between the wheels and lock both wheels from rolling would be a good idea, but I'd still use wedges on both sides of the tires.

I almost always put a wood block under the tongue jack. Not to mention, you can disconnect the sway bars before you level side to side. Only need the hitch ball attached when leveling (not too much sway during leveling).

Another option is to disconnect the sway bars before you try to park it. I've had to do that once.

I agree with the votes for removing the bars first if needed. I had a situation where the trailer was level, but the site went downhill where my truck was while hooking up. The truck was at such a bad angle, while lifting the rear end to attach the bars, one wheel actually came off the ground. Not ideal! If I had it to do over I probably would just connect the ball, and either back up so the truck was level with the trailer or pull forward to level ground and finish hooking up. Curious to see what others say. Good luck!
