Just a FYI on that. My 2011 F350 specs show the exact same rear overhang for the short bed and the long bed, 52.4". Of course the LB has a longer wheelbase at an additional 16.2" so
in this case it would seem the LB to be preferred over the SB...but of course only when comparing these two configurations.
I do not know if GM and Dodge have similar overhang specs.
