I really like our Q. They work great. I see no reason why you can't do a small roast. You'll have to keep an eye on the temp gauge but that's not hard. Use an instant read thermometer or a remote probe to monitor the roasts internal temp. I use an iGrill Mini when doing roasts or larger cuts of meat.

I drilled a hole in the top of our Q100 and installed a thermometer. That really helps when cooking.
I also had an issue with the gas regulator last week. It became plugged and would only allow a small flame. Had to order a new one. Other than that, we cook all kinds of things on our Q100.

I've attempted to do a small standing rib roast a couple of times with my Q100 without much luck either time. The dripping fat from the rib roast caused significant flare-ups and I had to remove the roast from the grill.

I had the gas line clog and had to replace it. Now I make sure the regulator input cap is in place when I remove the hose, and wrap the ends of the hose with cling plastic.

I find you have to keep turning it off and let the temperature drop because it's a single burner. Not the best product for roasts since indirect cooking is what's needed.

Maybe a small piece of stainless or heavy duty foil partially over the burner, to keep the flame and redirect the heat... might help.

Love my Weber, but for a roast I'd toss an Instant Pot on board the RV. The meals that thing will turn out is incredible. Between the grill and Instant Pot, you are covered for dang near anything.
