Dometic rv fridge light will not go off

I have a dometic fridge model # rm2662 and the light stays on in the fridge all the time . I took the switch off and touch the power wire from the switch to the ground on the light but it still stays on . Was wondering what would cause this problem? Thanks in advanced

I just realized I read this wrong. Thought you meant the "on" light. Nevermind.

The light inside the fridge.. The "power wire from the switch" may well be a ground.. Just so you know.. I think on mine the switch is on the ground side of the socket.

Shoot me a photo of the switch and lamp and I may be able to tell you more than you want to know.

But.... It matters not which side of the lamp the switch is on

The switch on mine is two spring copper leaves. The lever seperates them when pressed, when the lever is released (by the door opening) the leaves touch.. Unless someone ran a screw where there should be no screw this may be where your problem lies.

HOWEVER there is an even EASIER explanation,

Some DOMETIC models have a switch I think it's labeled LAT and it is normally above the door, You may also have a Humidity control switch there.. The LAT switch.

Turns on the light even if the door is closed.

Yup, that's your problem LAT switch is on.

What is LAT... Low Ambient Temp.

Seems that if it's too cold the Fridge does not work well so they turn on the light to warm it up a bit.

Thanks everyone for the reply . It was as wa8yxm has said it was the Low Ambient Temp switch that was turned on so when I turned it off and push in on the switch the light went off . This site is wonderful with lots of help from experienced people that helps newbies like myself

Our light stays on when the fridge is warm, so not LAT switch (I think). There is a pronged white wire that when removed, allows the light to go off when the door is shut (or the switch arm is manually depressed). But we worry that by disconnecting this white wire, we're messing something else up. This is our very first "new to us" Class A, a 1999 Rexhall Aerbus. We'd appreciate any ideas.

You probably should start a new thread rather than resurrect a 5 year old one. It just confuses everyone because they think they are answering the original question. It also forces them to read a whole thread just to get to yours.

YES..please start a new thread about YOUR fridge issue

AND Include BRAND/MODEL of fridge so that specific info concerning your fridge can be supplied vs generic guessing. Lots of models and they have different wiring schemes
