Just checked my 2004 Monaco La Palma. The top lock is a deadbolt that has a red lever sticking up to lock and unlock from the inside.

The bottom lock has a red post sticking out that will lock and unlock from the inside.

So both of mine will work from the inside and the lock lever and post are distinctly different so you can tell which one is which.

Tested it to make sure.

If your wanting a separate deadbolt, you need to look at those designed for mobile homes which have the thinner 1 3/8 thick doors. Be sure to check that it will clear the screen before installing.

Thanks, all. Falconman, that sounds like a good suggestion. I don't think we have much left in the mobile home business here, but we'll soon be in Mobile home heaven, Mesa/AJ, and I'll look into that.

We only lock the deadbolt on our trailer doors - not the handle. We frequently lock the bathroom door on the outside then unlock it on the inside and vice versa. Something appears to be wrong with your lock.
