Driving with refrigerator on with Propane

You should always buy propane by the gallon unless the tank is totally empty or if they have a price for a full fill that is less than by the gallon. Check to see how many gallons they put in by watching them fill. A lot of places just fill it using weight which is not correct and you may get ripped off. A 20 lb tank will hold about 4.7 gallons of propane. A 30 lb tank will hold about 7.08 gallons of propane. Many 30 lb tanks are actually 33 1/3 lb tanks so don't be surprised if your empty 30 lb tank actually takes close to 8 gallons of propane. Mine does. Propane weights 4.24 lbs per gallon. Trick question: How much does the propane in a 100 lb propane tank weight?

In my experience neither the fridge or the WH uses very much propane...
20# of LP can/will/does last as long as 30-45 days/nights, (depending on the OS temperature).

However my LP furnace is a gas guzzler.

Mel. Nothing will drain a LP tank faster than a furnace ;o)

We went through a full 30 lb tank of propane in less than a week when we set the WH to gas only. That is with three of us taking showers everyday and running a few loads through the washing machine. After this happened the first time I switched it back to electric only.

I called transportation Canada and that's what they told me.

I am in search of a TT around 28 foot , I think I mite be going with a Jayco 28DBSH, The other brand I was looking at is a keystone passport 2810BH,
Both are nice units but the jaco has a 2 year warranty and you can walk the roof when needed, I have a few more weeks until I pull the trigger

In Texas you ONLY fill by weight.

You take the Tare Weight (weight of empty cylinder with service valve), add weight of the hose and nozzle, and then weight of allowed LP. So a 20lb cylinder with our 4lb hose and a 16lb cylinder is 40lbs. You can NOT fill by gallons.

25gal "DOT cylinders" are the 100lb cylinders. It's a thing.

Out of all the information about keeping your Fridge cool and when to use electric and when to use propane no one has suggested to turn on your Generator while you are traveling I keep a hot stick in my hot water tank so when I travel I turn my Generator on for several reason No.1 it exerciser it self and No.2 it keeps the Fridge cool and No. 3 it helps keep my Batters up and No. 4 it keeps the hot water tank hot.
The last time I check on the price of Propane ( depending on where your at ) the cost is just about close to what gas or diesel is today.
