Electric Hot Water Heater
We tried using the electric option for the hot water heater in our 2016 Cougar XLite for the first time. After an hour the water was still cold. Tried troubleshooting online & in the manual but no luck. Anyone have the same issue?

Are you plugged in to shore power? Did you turn on the switch on the water heater outside? There is a switch usually lower left, hard to see that needs to be turned on also. Make sure you have water in the tank before turning on the electric. You will get faster recovery with using both electric and propane.

The water heater usually has a dedicated circuit breaker. Have you checked to see if it's in the on position ?

When I use electricity to heat the water, i alway wonder if it on. I have found doing a before a after look at the amp meter tell me it using electricity.

I always keep the water heater on elec, Except when anyone takes a shower I switch on the lp to keep the water hot longer.
I get about 5 minutes more time in the shower this way for a total of about 15 minutes. not too shabby for a 6 gallon.

Just to the right of the switch at the water heater there is what looks like a pipe plug. This is the anode for your water heater. It should be checked and replaced periodically to get maximum life out of your water heater. Ours is two years old and we have already replaced the anode. It's easy to do and costs about $15.00 or so. Use Teflon tape starting one thread back from the end of the plug.
We are newbies at this but at camp I leave both the gas and electric enabled. Wife and I can take back to back Navy showers and have enough water for both of us.
