Electrical question
We recently purchased a second-hand 2001 Pioneer Fleetwood camper trailer. The unit has an onboard inverter. The people we purchased it from were living in it, and it was electrically connected to a 30-amp outlet from their house. With that connection, and WITHOUT ANY BATTERY, all electrical systems functioned properly - the 120-V AC outlets worked (TV, etc.) and all onboard 12-V DC systems also worked. Remember, this is WITHOUT A BATTERY ATTACHED. Now that we have the camper on our land, we see that hooking up a deep-cycle battery will allow all 12-V DC systems to work, and if we disconnect the battery and connect to a generator, only the 120-V AC systems will work. We need BOTH battery and generator for everything to work. We want all systems to work without a battery, and this is how the previous owners used it for a year. What are we doing wrong? Is there a switch or fuse that permits the generator to power everything? To summarize: We would like to work all electrical systems using ONLY a generator, we know it can be done, but now that option has stopped working. We're looking for suggestions on what the problem might be. Thanks.
