I plan to replace the exhaust fan in the bath room with a Maxx fan. Please tell me how to break the seal between the old fan and the rubber roof. I plan to take a flat piece of wood to take off the top putty stuff then run some thing between the fan and the rubber. What is the correct way? Thanks babdad

Heat gun(hair dryer) and a plastic putty knife.First take four screw out of inside cover,go on roof, heat and scrape screw heads, unscrew dozen or so screws, then very carefully do the same to top of fan.Pry ,then when it off clean off as much of the old butyl tapes as possible. Use new tape or gasket if provided with your new fan.
