Filling Black Tank
I always prefer to have a full black tank before we hit the dump station. Is it ok to use the black tank flushing port to fill the black tank ? Will it cause any damage to the flushing mechanism ?
Thanks Jim

I use mine that way when the tank is less than half full. No problem at all as long as you don't overfill.

I will dump at whatever level I am at when I decide to dump. I start the flush before pulling the plug. Then I fill the tank with fresh water to at least 2/3 full. If I have the time I will wait until the guage reads full. I have a clear connection so will dump until no more debris comes out during the dump.

I think connecting the black flush with a partially full tank when not at the dump station with the valve open is asking for disaster. At some point, it will shoot out the roof vent and or inside.
I just stand on the flush lever and look down the hole until it's full.

I always peer up the open end of the sewer hose to see if it's clean yet....

I use the rinser to fill up the tank regardless of the level, let it run while dumping and stop when it's clear.

I do the same as Wishbone but I'm considering the other behind me. 10 minutes of screwing is enough, it's a tank, not a eating area.

Best be very careful! We were at a rally, and heard urgent pages for an individual. He had connected the backwash hose, and left for breakfast. It looked like an ugly fountain spewing out the roof vent.

The main issue is if the sensors become fouled. On our 5er they are supposed to be on the outside. Not sure what has fouled them but they are not working. It will cost a 100 to have the septic surgeon come out and clean them.

I hook up the hose to the rise port and turn on,,,, knowing the black water level. Then I get out my dump hose, pull the black water tank, while still letting the black water rise run. Then I close the black water valve and let run a couple minutes and then pull again. Then I dump the grey water and we're gone. It's aggravating when there's 5 people ahead of you and twenty minutes goes by and the same butthead is still farting around at the dump. Be considerate of others, move with meaning and get the heck moving. That's all I was saying yesterday, but I had to much rum to say.... LOL and I paid for it today.

IIRC my manual says to only run the black tank flush when the black valve is open.
