First Long Haul

Leaving tomorrow for our first highway trip. Haven't been using sway bar until now. Can someone refresh my memory on how to tighten bar. I think you adjust lever until it's tight then back off 1/4 turn. Just want to be sure as we'll be on high speed highway for first 500 kms. Many thanks.....Oh yes, I have weight distribution bars.

First Long Haul

I just snug it up as tight as it is comfortable for my hands/wrists. Safe travels! Make sure to check tire pressure.

Thanks.....checked truck & trailer tire pressure. Not sure what you mean "snug as comfortable" The adjustment bar starts loose and I can grind it around real firmly but then how much to back off ?

You should be fine with your plan. If you feel more movement than you like, just tighten a little more at the next stop. In general, you should tighten it down until the "flex bar" is simi-flat. The flex bar is the piece of metal on the side that the turning handle is attached to. Safe travels!

How long is your trailer? You need two of those sway bars for anything 26' and longer.

Thank you all for advice. Midway through trip right now. Found I was swaying slightly from passing trucks. I've done 700 kms. Will try tightening even more but my hitch has an arrow that says on and one pointing the opposite way saying tighten. I'm confused.Trailer is 22ft.

The first thing they told us about the sway bar was NEVER backup the trailer with it on.
