Found some Leaks

Well we did a quick shakedown run with our TT at Sebring. Now we just got back from a week stay at Ft. Desoto...during the TS Debby. Aside from a close call by a tornado, we did fine and the TT held up great. We actually had a fairly well protected site from any driving rain and wind. We learned even more about our TT and also about what ants like to do when it's really wet outside. (traps are set).

Our TT is the 311BHS from Sprinter and has the outdoor kitchen. We found that there must be a leak in the upper part of the door gasket on the right side. The countertop and the front edge that hides the swing out burners is swollen up and peeling on this side. I looked under it and found it to be MDF so I'm not surprised that the water did this. I'm surprised about the leak though. I washed the trailer when we got home and checked the door again, it's certainly not sealing well as I found water in there on that side again. I plan to bring it back to the dealer and have it fixed. My issue is that they will likely replace it with the same MDF (I assume). Is there anyway to pay for an upgrade on something like this and have them use a marine grade plywood? Anyone ever had this or similar issue and had them fix it with a better product?

We also found that two of our exterior lights are full of water. Is that normal? I'm thinking not. Our porch light burned out so I'm guessing the water shorted it out. The Scare light has many bugs swimming around in the light fixture but still works. Warranty item?

Our girls had a great time and can't wait to go again. My wife and I are looking for the next campground as we speak.

Joe

Trailer leaks

What a shame,a new RV and leaks. I would quiz the dealer on what material, wood they are going to use in the repair. They may just try to adjust the seal. Doccument, write a letter and keep a copy of your warranty issues. No,you shouldn't have water in your outside clearance markers. The lens cover needs to be taken off and cleaned. New caulk should be applied. Best of luck in getting your warranty issues resolved.

I have a 311bhs, has a leak under hard rain through bathroom door somewhere, has only done it twice. I just towel it. Will try and recreate it when i have time.

We had a few drops show at the front door only once and the rain was driving. Not enough to cause concern or damage.
