I don't understand, if the tote does not fit, why not a smaller tote? The pass through storage in my trailer is carpet. I have put down cardboard on the carpet to avoid stains. Another compartment is linoleum, I am using rubber floor mats to keep it from being scratched and it keeps the tool box from sliding. I have a lot of out side access to storage on my Komfort, but what you can fit in depends on the height and width of the compartment door. I have different sizes of totes that will fit in a specific compartment to hold what I need. I use what ever container that works best for me, it may be a tote, a tool box, tool bag or a sturdy cloth bag. Most everything I need or use on every trip is packed in the trailer, ready to go.
