Just curious, which Harbor Freight generator are you saying is junk? What is you basis for saying this since it doesn't look like you've owned one, and what exactly is "wrong" with it?
Personally I have two Honda EU-2000's left over from TT days. I love them. But if I were in the market now, I would seriously consider the HF QUIET INVERTER generators. (please note I am not speaking about the HF open frame, construction types). Everything I have read, and watched on Utube are positive. They are still relatively new, and I realize they don't have a fuel pump like the Honda's, but they seem to be a strong contender in the market. I am interested in factual, personal experiences either way, not hearsay!

I have a open frame 4000 watt champion, and it's so loud I would never use it for camping, waaaaayyyy to loud. NO THANKS. I'll stick to my Champion inverter remote start. I use the non inverter model for running power tools on our off grid property on the Canadian border. And I think the Canadian's are still mad at me!

Wisdom prevents making statements on "hearsay". Most people on these forums seem to speak from experience. I know 3 people that bought the HF inverter unit, one being my brother. It did not put out the amperage claimed and the resistance to approaching overload is very weak at surge. For the best factual and personal experience, just buy it and try it for yourself. I would be interested in hearing how it works out. For me, I prefer the extended run features and parallel capability of the Hondas. Good luck with it.

I would never buy a generator from Harbor Freight, just because they are known for selling "JUNK" in my opinion. Just look at their hand tools, wrenches, socket sets and just about everything in the store is JUNK. Once again just my opinion! However I don't think you have to own a generator from their store to know it's junk, just use common sense.

I skimmed the comments, maybe and maybe not, no one mentioned remote start. I have a Yamaha 2400is. It is a very good generator and will run a 13,500 generator....but man, I wish it had remote start.

Good one and so very true!
My 12.5 kw liquid cooled diesel gen runs the whole rig just not all at once but at $12,000 and almost 800#'s it's not for everyone.

Actually it won't run everything in mine. Dryer alone takes 30 amps (240 volts), then there's the three 15kw heat pumps, the floor heat, the two electric elements in the Aqua Hot, the induction cooktop and Jenn Air refer/freezer, the hot water tap at the sink and even a few 120 volt lights in the bath, 3 TV's and sat receivers.
