I hope I'm not repeating a thread but I've looked and can't find one. I need to know if anyone has any links or advice on a checklist to follow when getting your RV ready for camping after the winter. We live in the south so we didn't winterized it, but it has been in storage for 4 months outside. Things like check battery, check tires etc.. I just don't want to forget anything before we pull it out. Again sorry if this is a repeat. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks everyone

You may want to sanitize the fresh water tank too, if you use it.

What's easiest way to sanitize fresh water system

Use water and bleach in the holding tank , open each faucet till you smell the clorox bleach
Let it set for 4-5 hrs , then flush the system with plain water

I do not have a formal check list (one in my rather informal head) but I get in and make everything that is suppose to work, work before we take off, lights, levelers, fridge, air conditioners, heat pumps, furnace, water pump, slides, TV's, radios, steps, fans, antenna, batteries, inverter, rear camera, dash heat, air, the works, it's gotta work. If not then I fix it, forget it and fix it later or have someone else fix it.

Missed the ice maker this time out and while I was doing due diligence on the road to figure out why it did not work; it decided to work by itself the very morning I was going to repair it, having received a newly ordered solenoid the day before, of course.

It's a good plan but I have a lot of spare parts.

1. Drain and flush the plumbing system with fresh water. If you used the water heater bypass valve to winterize the plumbing system, be sure to open it so water will flow through the water heater.

2. If more than a few thousand miles since you last did it, then repack all the trailer wheel bearings. If you know how, you can do it by hand, but it's a nasty messy greasy job. It's a lot easier to do it right using a wheel bearing packer tool.

While doing #2, check the condition of the trailer brake pads and the tires. Pump the trailer tires up to the max PSI on the tire sidewall.

3. Check the spare tire, and pump it up too.

4. Be sure the refrigerator works on 12-volt power. Be sure the hot water heater works to make hot water.

5. Be sure the weight-distributing hitch works as designed, and is properly adjusted to move about 25% of the hitch weight to the front axle of the tow vehicle and another 25% to the trailer axles. If it needs some adjustment, now is a great time to getter done.

6. Be sure the fresh water tank is filled with enough water to flush the pottie until you get to the next source of fresh water.

7. We have a dump station at our house, so we dump the grey and black water holding tanks before we leave home.

8. Darling Wife worries about loading our trailer with the correct linens, food, dishes, spices, etc.

9. I also use a tongue scale to be sure my wet and loaded tongue weight is about right (12% to 15% of trailer GVWR) before we hit the road.
