Just checked ford site, i see the 5400 # rating, still think 4,000 dry weight is getting close, but doable ? Here's an idea !!! Go rent one about the same weight and head off to the mountains ?????

I presume your Ford has Transmission Temp Indicator ?

Just keep a watch on it, from what i have reserched anything above 220 you should start to worry. Cruising on I95 i stay in the 160's and only once did i ever see 200, and that was playing with it on a very steep suspension bridge ( Sidney Lanier ) here in Brunswick Was sort of a test for the truck and TT when i first got it, maintained 65 all the way up and over, but the trans, did downshift, but i was pushing it hard. I'm interested myself what happens in the real hills.Here's a link,
