Hanging a Bedroom Curtain Divider

We purchased a Keystone Passport last summer, floor plan is one room with no divider wall between the bedroom and living/kitchen area. A couple other brands we looked at had a curtain that would pull for privacy/sleeping.

I'd like to create a curtain, any ideas how to do this and what to use for hardware? I can sew the curtain easily, just don't know how to hang it.

Super quick:
- Measure the width of the space, and the height. Wrote these down, and put the info in your pocket.
- Go to WalMart or a hardware store and get one of these:
Mainstays 28"-48" Adjustable 5/8" Diameter Chrome Finished Tension Rod - Walmart.com and a bunch of small safety pins.
- If the store you're in sells fabric, get something that you'd want for the curtain material, long enough to reach the floor from the ceiling, or if much longer than that you can use some of the safety pins to hem the curtain. Or go to a fabric store, do the same thing.
- Use the safety pins to make a loop of fabric at the top, and slip the tension rod through. Hem the bottom if necessary.
- Put your new curtain up and enjoy!

There are other ways to do this that might look better or be more durable, but this can have a curtain up within and hour if needed/desired.

You can get a fabric shower curtain and one of the bathroom floor to ceiling shelves with a tension rod. This one goes to 8'1".

Use just the rod horizontally. You could use the shelves separately on the wall with command hooks.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm looking for a track system that will mount on the ceiling and have hooks or something to attach the curtain for opening or closing. Many of the models we looked at has this system and I'm wanting to recreate that look. Most probably our width is close to 8' wide. A shower curtain sliding on a expansion pole doesn't appeal to me.

Also, as for the commando adhesive hooks, we did that in our motorhome, didn't go well. The adhesive held good to the vinyl wall covering, but that covering started pulling away from the luan paneling it was glued to.

You could use a shower curtain or closet rod, as it would be long enough, can be mounted to perpendicular walls and has the strength the project needs, and just pick your own fabric. You mentioned you can sew, so almost anything a fabric store has could be used. There are also many different ways to hang the fabric on the rod, including decorative shower curtain hooks that are easy to find on line or at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

/\/\/\/\ what he said. Get the type that is spring compression. Attach to the side walls. You will need to put a support to the ceiling in the middle (just for a little strength. Put in the curtain rings before screwing everyone in and presto!

Just be sure you DONT have the curtain full length, leave a couple inches as You WILL step on it when you're not careful and Walla ... your next project.

As a woman and a seamstress, I would go nuts with the above alternatives.

Go get a copy of a RV accessory catelog. You will find multiple types of ceiling track in the hardware section. Some are set up for clamps, some for snap tape, some for slide tape, and some for rollers. It comes in different lengths and attaches with small screws to the ceiling. You (or someone who knows how to sew) makes the curtain as you want it and attach the slide tape (or snaps or slides) to the top of the curtain. The stuff is easy to sew with a regular home sewing machine. Put everything up and attach a "end stop" if needed to keep the tape from coming out the end of the track. You won't need the stop if the track ends against a wall.

We made custom curtains like this for our pop up years and years ago, and I have repaired the ones in my current travel trailer when a kid tugged on them too hard. A much more professional appearance!
