Welcome To IRV 2 from Fl also. Check out campgroundreviews.com . Lots of good reviewed parks on there. You should post on our forum with specific States that you want info on.

Retierment.....a hard word to adjust to. Wife and i however have deceided to try it affective May 30 2013. However most of our camping will be everywhere USA. Just purchased a KZ200s Spree escape along with a dodge ram 1500 Hemi to tow it.

So the question is where is a good place to start. We have only had this camper out once since we purchased it.

Among our favorite state parks that we have visited in Alabama and Florida are, in Alabama: Oak Mountain (near Birmingham), Joe Wheeler (West of Huntsville), Cheaha and Buck's Pocket (in North East Alabama), and Gulf (on the coast). In Florida: Blackwater River, Big Lagoon, Florida Caverns, St. Joseph Peninsula, and St. George Island (in NW Florida); Suwanee River and Manatee Springs (in North Central Florida). We have been to several others, but didn't like them as much as those listed here.

I don't head North out of Florida until the 1st of May.
South to Middle GA. may be OK in April.

Alabama, Gulf State Park, Desota State Park, Wind Creek State Park

I think Alabama state parks are some of the best, Im more of a public and membership park person... I could point you in a lot of nice public/private parks

We do too. We go camping to enjoy nature, not to park in some parking lot. We went to Topsail State Park in Florida which was previously a private RV "resort" which the state took over, and, although a great many people really like it, it wasn't for us - no ground fires, no parking or tents on the carefully manicured lawns, leaf blowers operating all day long, very little semblance of "nature" to be found, our little camper was surrounded by half-million dollar motor homes with satellite dishes and people who rarely left their air-conditioned comfort. We couldn't even find any "nature trails," (although we later found out that there were some), but a listing of all the cable TV channels was readily available. If we want all the comforts of home we'll stay home.

April & May in Savannah, Ga. are wonderful.

Many beautiful parks and homes.

We stayed at the KOA just south of there.

Have you tried Falling Waters State Park? It is not too far from you and boasts Florida's tallest waterfall. It also has some interesting botany.
