Help Me Figure Out What Happened ????

Hello All
Just returned from a 500 mile roundtrip with our 2015 Greywolf 26RL. I always check all the tire pressures before leaving on any trip. We arrived home late so just parked the trailer in the backyard till the am to unload it. I did notice one of the tires looked a little low, will check it in the morning. We unloaded in the am and i noticed the tire was even lower, went to check it,and wow how could this happen. Pictures will show it. i don't what could cause such wear, it's not all the way around the tire, about a third, not all the way across the treat pattern. If a brake locked up, i would think it would have flat spotted all the way across. the bearing were a little loose, but not much imho. The other 3 tires are fine.

Heeeelp me figure this out !!!

Hard to tell by pictures, but the third pic looks like a slipped belt to me.

That looks like a tire defect or failure, not wear IMHO

tires

how old are the tires? looks like thread is down/warn.. rule of thumb is to change tires on twin axle tt is 5 yrs regardless of how good they look. inner core separation is main reason due to tire scrubbing when making turns and backing up into sites...I am changing ours next yr. tires look great on outside but not worth the risk. how many miles on your tires???

Has the wheel been balanced? (Ie, weights on it?). The bulge looks like a busted belt and the uneven wear looks like the wheel was not balanced.

I have had the same thing happen in less than 5k miles

That looks a lot like a broken belt. Could be a defect or a pothole. My guess a pothole. I've had a few trailer tires like that over the years. 43 years running the ribbon.

I think i buy the separated belt/tread ! Old Biscuit picted up the the bulge , like i thought, any wear or balance issue would be all the way around the tire. Tires are less than 3 years old, came on trailer from Forrest River, sure a chinese tire, but we have no proplem up to now. Since it only the one tire, im hoping for the pot hole theor !!!!

Thanks All

The tire is defective and at only 3 years is probably warranted by the tire manufacturer.
Inspect your other tires for similar bulges..........often.

Find a good tire shop/guy that should solve the mystery. But my uneducated guess (2 cents) bad tire since it only effected one.

Separated belt for sure. Could also be an unbalanced tire in addition. They will wear more on one part of the tire because the tire is in the air during part of it's revolution. I always balance the trailer tires, as much to protect the suspension and trailer contents as to make the tires last longer. I don't think I could feel an out of balance tire, can barely feel a flat.

ST tires are really not made very well. IMHO they are mosty junk - AKA China Bombs. There are a few good ST tire manufacturers like Maxxis being one. Try to replace any tire with a better made tire or best case replace all 4 with much better tires.
