Hensley Hitch

Looking for some advice on how to determine if I need to use a drop bar hitch or just the straight bar on a Hensley Hitch. Have a 2010 Keystone Passport 285rl . Pulling with a stock 2017 Chevrolet Silverado.

The Hensley adds 5.5 inches in height. You need to know the height of the top of the coupler of your trailer when it’s level. Take that and minus 5.5 inches for the Hensley. This number is where the top of your truck receiver needs to be. So if your truck is 18 inches top of receiver and your trailer is 20 inches top of coupler. It would be 20-5.5=14.5 receiver height so you would need 4 inch drop shank to get your truck receiver down to 14 inches. They say if your within 2 inches it will be fine. My vehicle has a 21 inch receiver and my Jayco has a 26.5 inch coupler so a straight shank is perfect for my setup

Call Terry Powell at Hensley. He can tell what you need for your set-up. You will like the Hensley.

Yup...

Nice people there...

Plus, it moves the articulation point about 4.5 ft forward of the hitch...

This gives similar stability as a 5th wheel...
