honda generators on sale?

Does any vendor ever put the 2kw generators on sale? I guess I am going to go with the two 2kw setup because of the noise factor and the ability to use an external fuel tank but I really hate to drop 2 grand on something that will probably not be used very much.

Honda doesn't allow dealers to set prices.

But in general, no, Honda controls that for the most part. You'll occasionally see discounts on old models, but not so much on current stuff.

The only way I justified buying a generator for the RV was that I could also use it as a home power back up. I bought a Honda EUI 6500. Now that I have a Class A I'll probably never use it for camping. Hard to get rid of though, its a great generator and so quiet.

If you really feel you need a quiet, Inverting generator set up look thorough the archives here. There are several people who have bought "knockoff" Honda and Yamaha generators and seem quite happy with them They are also much cheaper. If its something you'll be using a lot (like for work purposes) i'd probably go with the real McCoy. But it sounds like you're going to be using this very infrequently, so the investment might be questionable.

Several manufacturers make inverter generators that are very similar to the Honda, and have the same noise specs.

J have a pair of the Champion 2kw generators that cost about half of what a Honda will cost. So far (3 years), my only complaint is the ampunt of disassembly required to replace a broken recoil starter rope.

Back when I had a truck camper I got the Honda 2K from a Honda Motorcycle dealer and got if for about $150 less than at any of the RV type shops. You might try that.

I bought a pair on Craigslist for $1200 a few years ago. They work like a charm and with a fuel extender we can get almost a weekend out of them if we don't run the air too often. Here is one for sale in my area for example http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/n...051490934.html
