How did you fix yours?

I posted about this yesterday and I was wondering how others have fixed this too common problem. The plastic wiring support under our slide outs that Lippert uses are falling apart and really creates a danger. I'm aware of the hinge fix but that won't work on mine. So I'm wondering what others have done as an alternative to this plastic piece. There has to be a better alternative.Click image for larger version

I had the same problem on mine and used nylon cable ties. I know it's not a permanent fix, but that's all I had available. What hinge fix are you referring to?

Many have used strap hinges when the break is at the frame which is the most common place for the breaks to occur. They have attached one side of the hinge to the frame and the other to the plastic support by drilling matching holes and bolt it together. It works great and is a lasting fix. Mine is situated so this won't work because of its proximity to other supporting structures. My luck. The support strap is 3.5 inches wide and can be purchased on Lipperts web site.

This what I came up for a fix. I made an L bracket and bolted it to an existing body bolt. I then bolted the strap using three bolts to the existing strap. The L bracket is bolted on with washers and a nylock nut just tight enough to allow the bracket to rotate around the bolt. This "should" relieve the stress on the plastic strap. I'll have to wait until DW gets home to test it but in theory it should work.
