60-62MPH / 1700 rpm's = 11 - 12 MPG.

65 MPH+ 10 MPG

This is on highway interstates.

Secondary roads where the posted speed limit is between 50 or 55, I'll get closer to 12 MPG.

Hmm, speed doesn't seem to affect my mpg until I go over 70. At 65 I get 16mpg+. Only over 70 does it drop to the high 14s.

I am on vacation! I don't need to be unsafe and risk my life and those around me.
Most people over estimate the control they have when towing.
My plan is to enjoy the trip as much as any other part of the vacation. Don't want to add stress when unnecessary.

So anyone driving faster than 60 mph is a menace?

I drive at least the speed limit, usually faster, because I like to, I have never checked my mileage, because I don't care what it is, we camp to have fun, not worry about gas mileage.

I typically drive 60 - 65 in good weather. Less than that when it is raining. I don't worry about the gas milage because I bought the trailer for fun not economy. I do try to take it easy on the China bombs.

Sure is nice to be able to take an off ramp to use the bathroom or make a sandwich.

I drive between 60 and 65 in the right lane on the interstates and within 5mph of the posted limits on secondary roads up to 65. I will stay behind a truck going up a hill up to a point, so he doesn't have to repass me on the downhill side, so I don't have them playing with me. My trailer tires are rated for 75mph so I can drive faster, but I'm retired and not in a hurry, usually only drive up to 350 miles a day usually less, and off the road by 4pm. I have a 60 gal auxiliary tank, so my fuel range is around 900 miles. DW and I see vehicles pass us 2 and 3 times in the course of a day, and laugh about it.

I run 7mph over the posted speed limit. Keeps me in the flow of traffic. Have never been pulled over for speeding (at least not in this rig).

I guess you could say My coworker and I are Pros at towing because that is what the dealership does, is pay Us to deliver and pick up units.
Every day it seems to something different. I'v towed everything from a 18 foot TT to a 36 5er that was bought by a guy that was fulltiming in it.
We always use a Truck bigger than necessary.
As a rule I never drive tow over 65 MPH.
My second week I was moving a 30 foot TT and had a blowout on the trailer at 65 MPH on a straight section of interstate. It was very loud and I could feel the Forward and backward surge. but the trailer didn't more right or left more than a inch or two. Luckily I was 1/2 mile from a rest area so it could be changed out away the side of the road.
We never use the WD bars because it just doesn't seem like the trucks need them.

Just curious, do you have any favorite brands that seem to tow the best? And which are the worst?

X2, when we towed TTs, we also ran 55-60. The journey is the joy, the destination is just another part of the enjoyment.

Not towing a TT anymore, but even when I had one I always tow at 57 mph. I still use that speed with the 5er as well. I don't trust those st tires at anything close to there rated speed. In fact ,most of the guys I've talked to that had blowouts and damage were driving past the rated speed. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I'm not taking any chances. Just my 2 pennies worth.
