how long have you gone between dumping your tanks?

I also have the tank flush, but I like to use the 'magic wand' once in a while because it flows a lot more water and gets in the nooks and crannies better. Clean water and sloshing around probably does more good than anything, save the ice for the beverages. But whatever works for you. There's plenty of theories about black tank maintenance on here, I like to throw a little laundry detergent in and slosh it around, then dump and rinse again, some of it can get pretty caustic. Add a little water (never let it go completely dry or your valves will stick) toss in a smell good pack and you're ready for the next trip.

thanks Im going to use the detergent I like that idea, I filled the bathroom sink with a 20lb bag of ice then looked at the black water level it all melted in the grey tank so thats good. I always dump and clean after every trip but how much water do you think i should leave in the blk tank, and what kind of wand do you use. Im going to reset the toilet this week end if i get a chance. Im going to auto club raceway for three day so i dont want and problems so between the detergent, the new studer valves, wand in the tank, smell good pack, reset the toilet, and fresh water in the tank, i should be good.

I leave 2-3 gallons in the tank, just enough to keep it wet. The wand is a cheap PVC pipe with a hose connector on one end and holes drilled in the side of the cap on the other, but you can spend $20-30 for a fancy one with a flex tube and spinner nozzles and have the coolest tank wand in the whole campground. I forgot to ask if you checked the inside of the roof vent for nests, etc.?

no I didnt but i will for sure im also going to put on a solor vent cap
