How to Quiet Water Pump?

Hi Campers!

My water pump is making more noise than in the past and the water pressure is lower as well. I checked the mesh filter in front of the pump, no real clogging substances.

I ordered a new Sureflow / OEM replacement pump and want to know how to mount it to be the quietest possible. Any ideas? It was just screwed into the floor with what looked like sheet metal screws without any washers to avoid the screw heads from working loose or pulling out. I'll at least put washers under the screw heads on top of the rubber feet so I use the entire rubber foot cushion to isolate noise.

Other experience proven ideas?

Thank You Very Much.

I found the easiest way to get a quiet pump was to upgrade to a variable speed. It comes on quiet and gets only slightly louder as the pump spools up to deliver. It is a bit higher flow and pressure so we are able to open two taps now instead of one and get a reasonable flow from each.

I used some short flex hoses between the PEX pipes and the pump. That helped some.

Next, I added a 2 1/2 gallon, potable water, expansion tank from Lowe's. That cut down the running, every time you opened a faucet.

My boat has the variable speed pump, expensive but works great. That also has soft hose on each side.

I remounted my water pump by bolting it to a 1/2 inch plywood. I installed rubber washers under the pump at the bolt points. Then I mounted the plywood board to a second plywood board using rubber washers between the two. Then screwed that board to the compartment floor. That way the pump noise was double insulated from being transmitted to the compartment. I also used a vinyl flexible hose on the inlet and output of the pump. When I got done, I couldn't hear the pump run! My wife could, but then she can hear a bird walking through wet grass!

Talking

I actually UNMOUNTED mine from the floor of the wet bay, even though they had originally mounted it on a 3/8" thick hardened rubber mount, and just set a silicone 'dog dish' under it.
This silicone 'bowl' form keeps the pump off the floor, and provides all the shock absorption needed.
But, now I CAN'T hear it when I need to! oh well, a better problem to have than before...
