How To Remove Black Tank 2007 Dutchmen Rainier 24'
Hi, this is my first post in irv2.com and I want to express my gratitude for the site, the users, all the contributions.
I am removing the black tank from my 2007 Dutchmen Rainier 24' travel trailer. I believe it will be easier to complete the moldy floor replacement/repair that I am in the middle of, with the tank out of the way. I plan to live in the trailer, and I use a simple composting toilet system, so I don't need the black tank, and I don't want it. Not worried about trailer resale value, more worried about the tank cracking and requiring repair someday.
So far.. I've removed the toilet, and the floor in the bathroom over the tank, so the flange is not attached to anything anymore.
My questions:
1. How do I get the tank to drop? It appears to have lips on the front and rear of the tank which sit directly on the trailer frame. I'm thinking I need to unbolt that rear bar on the frame, and then the tank will slide out? It seems really difficult to get to those rear nuts to prevent them from spinning. I think I need to get a 15mm open end wrench back there and feel with my fingers when the wrench makes its way over the nut to immobilize it. Or, maybe I can just remove the ones on one side, which are easier to access, and then the bar might bend out of the way enough to let the tank drop?
2. What's the best way to disconnect the vent tube? I was just gonna cut through the floor around the vent tube, and then hack saw the tube down low near the floor. Can't get it from under the floor, it's just too tight down there.
3. Anything else I should be aware of?
Thanks
