I made a boo boo.
When we closed up the camper for the winter somehow a package of squid hid itself from me as I turned off the fridge for the winter. Now my camper smells of dead fish. I have hit the inside of the unit with everything that I can think of but I can't seem to get rid of the odor. Does anyone have a favorite way of removing odors from their camper?

I feel your pain. A few years ago I did the same thing with a pork chop left in the freezer. It smelled like someone died in my trailer.
I washed with hot soapy water, tried bleach, something called Awesome, baking soda, etc. Nothing really helped much.. Then I tried some that enzyme stuff they sell at the pet store to remove smell and stains from pet accidents... that helped. Some. Eventually the odor dissipated. Be patient, put some fresh eucalyptus in a vase on your counter and leave the wondows cracked. and... DON'T DO THAT AGAIN.

Just smoke a few packs of Camels in there. You'll never smell the squid again.

You might try the same technique as Dirk suggested only using apple cider vinegar. Then pour about a quarter of a cup of vinegar in a plate close the door and leave about 1-3 days. For cooking orders in the RV, leave a plate of vinegar on the counter overnight, works great.

Get a big can or two of "OZIUM" It is for Mal-odors shut up all the windows and doors start from the back and spray as much as you can in the air until you get to the front. Close it up and wait a day or so and do it again. The stuff works wonders, it will even get the smell of those camels out of there too.

Juices get into the insulation of the refrigerator, and the smell may continue to exude from where you can't get to clean it. I had that problem with a household refrigerator and had to take it to the landfill. Acids like vinegar and lemon juice work best if you can't do that, because acid hooks to the stink molecules and neutralizes them, but not if you can't get at where the juices went. In my opinion it's quite likely that you will have to replace the refrig.
What about insurance claims?

You might try Fabreeze on the fabric.. Steam clean the fridge.. but .. Better you than me.

Call a restoration company such as Service Master (help restore houses that have had fires or floods, among other things). They may be able to offer suggestions.

Problem is the odor is now in all fabrics, check the local nursing homes or hospitals. We use odor eliminator from spartan chemicals, no I don't own stock in the company, just work in a hospital. DW says newspaper in the fridge and boxes of open baking soda with all doors, windows shut. Sorry sucks to be you :(. On the bright side you can just imagine your camping in Seattle.

When I worked in the automotive business we used to have an outside vendor come in to remove stubborn odors from used cars. They used a 12 volt ozone generator. They claim its purifying effect is 3000 times stronger then bleach, but without the smell. I did not believe in it until I witnessed a before and after on a particularly smelly car.

we always used lemon juce on our hands after cleaning (pealing) shrimp. Like some one said, Let it sit in there a day or two.
