I have a 5thwheel rv. My insurance is coming due and the price increased. What insurance do you all use and how much is your policy price?

None. I self insure anything I connect up to my fully insured truck, including my 5th wheel.

My class A on the other hand is fully insured as required by law.

If the OP has a loan on the RV then he will be required to insure it by the lender.

As for insurance costs, it's mostly determined by where you live. My motorcycle insurance spiked simply because auto theft heavily increased where I live. Moving out of town wasn't an option so there was little I could do short of selling it.

If you park your RV at your house that will lower your insurance. Either that or register it at a family's address where insurance is cheaper.

Failing that, call around or combine your insurance with your vehicles and home owners insurance for multiple policy discounts

I financed my TT 2 years ago and have to carry collision insurance on it. Liability is covered by my TV.
And it's just under $190 for the year.

I just redid my whole auto insurance thing and went from Farmers to Progressive (HUGE cost savings with the autos BTW).

For 35' 2016 5th wheel I pay around $275/year. While talking to the sales person I learned a lot about RVs. They offered me a "roof leakage policy" and a "rodent damage policy". I declined both but thought it was interesting. I have 5K in contents insurance and collision/comprehensive. There was also a question about actual value vs. agreed value. I can't even remember but I think I went with actual value which I'm sure I'd get killed with. The insurance company would undoubtedly find the lowest, beat to hell trade-in value they could and give me that. My RV is on the cheap end so I'd probably only be fighting over a couple thousand dollars anyway.

For the poster with no insurance, they pointed out that homeowner's and vehicle policies WON'T cover you if someone is injured in or by your RV when it's not attached to the truck (I think they might have said it was somewhat new that standard homeowner's doesn't cover it). I bought a couple hundred thousand dollars worth for very cheap.... I think less than $50/year. Of course, the low cost indicates a very low chance of a problem but flying with nothing you still do have some exposure - a stray kid in the campground injures him/herself on your trailer, someone falls down the stairs leaving your RV, etc.

Rolled mine into the same policy as my homeowners, other vehicles with NC Farm Bureau. Plus, I added an extra rider that covers things like the awning getting blown off, etc.
