My State Farm policy has the value of the trailer that I set-- plus stated amount for contents($2k). It is very competitive. I do have boats/cycles w/progressive but not the trailer.

A friend of mine had a fifth wheel insured by one company and his truck insured by another company.
He jackknifed during a snowstorm on the interstate and did severe damage to his truck and trailer when the trailer slid around and hit his truck cab.
The two insurance companies gave him a hard time about which should pay what.
His advice to me was...always use the same insurance company for all your vehicles.

My understanding was the tow vehicle has the liability coverage and the trailer has all other coverage. In Texas anyway.

Truck, car, TT, and an 18ft fishing boat - all have their own policies with State Farm. Only the 14ft, 12ft, and 8ft boats are covered by the transport vehicle policy.

i called my local agent
and got a surprise. I have no insurance, i live in Mass. but keep the
TT in NH as a seasonal in an RV park year round. We travel from there
but always return. They don'yt cover it out of state. i have several
quotes for TT ins. and will pursue one of the.
Many thanks for the heads up.

It looks like this has been a good thread for everyone all around. I just got off the phone with a Progressive agent. She is working up a quote for auto, RV and home and will get back to me. I am going to get one more to see what type of price I get. This has been a LONG day. I REALLY appreciate everyone's input.

Ameriprise/Costco
They said they do not cover trailers longer than 30'. But, after reading this thread I double checked, and I'm fully covered..towed or parked/stored.
I have no complaints. They give me good rates but I've never (knock on wood) needed to file a claim.

I have State Farm and they insured it so it is covered when sitting. Ran about $200/yr if I recall correctly. When in tow, it is covered (liability etc) under the vehicle towing it. Sounded legit to me.

I unfortunately just completed a claim on my TT where I sideswiped a brick column and lost one, count it. one piece of siding and ir cost over 7000 to fix. good thong I had independent comp and collision on my TT so it only cost me 750.00 deductible to fix but I am sure my premium will be a killer this April. The DW questioned the coverage but I am so glad I did.
thats the moral of the tale here, talk to any insurance company about RV insurance separate from or in addition to your auto and if you can bundle your home in there and you may get a discount.

MetLife has pretty good rates as well. I just switched everything over, house, vehicles, RV.

Still Searching
It seems like many here are served with Progressive.
We have a quote from Travelers, the agent I spoke to said Progressive was very pricey and Travelers gave us the same coverage for a cheaper rate.
I am looking at Safeco now and will also look into Allstate.
I will have to check the premiums, but both gave us full coverage on the TT in tow, or camping, or at home, or if we were to store it.
We are looking to bundle home, 2 autos, and the TT.
Shopping for insurance is NOT what it use to be. It is like "Why do you want to look elsewhere?, Why are you switching"?.
Geesh.

This thread made me call my insurance company Liberty Mutual, who I just added my trailer to my policy last week, I had a separate company previously. I have my cars and house with Liberty and verified that the TT is on its own policy, so it is covered when it is traveling or stored. This thread first concerned me as it was only $48 per year to add the TT to my policy. I have 100,000 liability and a $250 deductible for collision and comprehensive on the TT. Note my Winnebago TT is valued today at about $16K
