Can I have your old inverter? lol I think you like to tinker more than camp! :>) Can I conclude that the initial inverter was kaput?

I did the same thing. However, I put in a junction box and ran 3 outlets off of it for convience locations under the dinnett. I also used a flush marinco 120v female socket on the outside to plug the extention cord right into it. Neat, clean, and water tight.
