Jensen TV Remote...

Is there an unwritten law that just about everything that goes into these expensive toys has to be junk? OK... Rant over... I have been looking for a remote for my TV. The original quit a couple of months ago. I thought the batteries were just bad but new ones didn't fix it. I've re-soldered all the joints and tested batteries, etc. I cannot find a part number on the remote anywhere. So... online search shows the identical remote available from Jensen, but only as a part of a package with cables, power cord, etc... for $60-. Really?!?! What a load of... So I feel like...

So... as I continue to educate myself about RVs... I will NEVER buy another RV with a Junksen... er... Jensen TV. If the dealer won't remove it... I'll remove myself from the dealership and go somewhere else. I can't believe we, as the buying public, put up with crapola like this. I could buy the package but that just lines Jensen's pockets... I believe I'm about to buy a Sony and replace the whole deal.... Or... maybe just a new trailer...

I have to agree with you the Jensen is junk. I already replaced parts of it in my brand new Jayco 298. Love the TV but not the jenson. The remote is borderline useless. The sound leaves a lot to be desired too. I added a small name brand blue ray player and I'm about to replace the radio with one of higher quality with a proper remote.

I had the same thing happen with my 19" Jensen remote. I purchased a 24" Vizio for $159 that takes up the same foot print, has a much bigger screen and vastly superior picture quality.

Could you not purchase a universal remote at Wal Mart?

I have read several posts that say universals do not work on Jensens. I have one and have tried it... and it didn't...

My Jensen tv and stereo have been flawless for a year now. But the remote is the biggest POS I've come across for remotes. Buttons are hard to read, too many on such a small remote and not clearly marked. Fortunately my 5'er has a pretty good sound system so we only listen to the stereo speakers. Never the tv.

They will keep putting junk in trailers until people stop buying them. Which will never happen. Most everything in rv's is cheaply made. The furniture is low end, the cabinets are low end, the beds are usually low end. I can't imagine anyone buying any of the stuff in a trailer for their home. But yet people shell out 30,40,50,60,000+ for the fancy paint job and then wonder why they have problems. I can't think of any other outdoor recreation toy that has as many problems as a TT or 5'er. You shell out good money and cross your finger you don't get a lemon.

No one puts a gun to our head to shell out those bucks. But it is a shame that much of the TT systems can't be better. I have a 32 inch LED 12 v in mine and I know it will go out someday. For a remote issue I would contact Junksen to see what they say. Just finished a 3200 mile vacation. With the condition of the roads I am surprised that anything works and the TT is still in one piece. Think of your house in a 8.0 quake for hours.
