Smile Just purchased first travel trailer

OMG, after several months of looking I just purchased a 2006 Dutchmen 31B TT. So excited and apprehensive as I am a real novice at this. My plan is to do remodeling on the interior as well as repairs inside and out. My son will be doing most of it with me as the helper! I am good at painting and eager to learn about the trailer. Plan to park it to Galveston Tx for the first year. I know this forum will provide a wealth of info for me. Just wanted to pop in and say hello for now.

Welcome to the forum. How exciting!!! It's definitely a great feeling. I too was scared about pulling mine as I'm a newbie but it will pass and you will feel more confident as each day passes.

Remodel it for practicality not looks and you won't go wrong. The list of changes you want will be endless, just do the essentials first and keep building on it. DO NOT CUT CORNERS.

Keep us posted with the changes. Would love to see them.

I know exactly how you feel. I just purchased my first travel trailer; a 2016 Keystone Bullet Premier 26RBPR (I'll have more to say about it later).

I just got my first TT in mid-May. Driving get's easy quick !! My first trip was a little hairy. First, the dealer didn't set up the WD hitch right causing a lot of bumpity bumpity and a lot of wag wag. Second, I was driving 225 km (140 miles) home - in a wind storm with a freak spring snow / ice pellet storm.

My second trip was 440km after I set up the WD hitch correctly and leveled out the trailer. Driving seemed a lot easier.

I'm looking forward to a 10,000 trip in August. At first, I was pretty nervous. But, after my first two trips, I'm looking forward to the experience.

That said, my rig is quite a bit smaller than yours by about 8 feet and 3,500 pounds. Make sure you get a good quality WD hitch !! Pay the extra money. It'll make the experience much more enjoyable.
