Just tuned up a new to me Blue Ox towbar

I purchased a used Blue Ox BX7365 from a gentleman in Austin, had it shipped to me and after I received it bought a bushing kit, couple of bolts and new pins from a local trailer dealer. I relubed the sliders under the boots and everything is put back together. I tightened everything up pretty tight and wondered if I should loosen the arm side to side bolts. They make moving the arms right and left to fit it to the front of the tow vehicle very stiff. That's not a problem for me, but after thinking about that for a while I wondered if they are too stiff for the vehicle when turning? Should they move freely side to side or be very stiff?

I have never owned a new one, so i have no idea how tight they should be.

Thanks, Bill

Blue OX

I love my blue ox. I have the older system with the bolts. I tightened the bolts so I can move them with the bars. I never over tighten them. Works perfect and has life time warranty.

According to Blue Ox, the BX7365 has a "Three year warranty". https://www.blueoxtowbars.com/produc...Tow_Bar,BX7365

Also BlueOx recommends complete tow bar replacement at 10 years of age. The following is a quote from Blue Ox in answer to my question:

Quote:
" Thank you for contacting us. We do recommend replacing your tow bar after 10 years. However, this is not the case for everyone tow bar. If the tow bar is serviced and maintained each year this will help to extend the life of the tow bar. If you have any questions please let me know. "

Blue ox

Sorry I did not read the model number. I have the blue ox SwayPro weight hitch for travel trailers. My apologies.

I called blue ox support last night. They told me to loosen them so they move freely but not too freely. LOL. -Bill
