I've never seen my tanks, but I will say that since the tank is molded, its exit point could be different from the one in the video we're referencing.

For over 30 years, a couple of gallons of water, followed by pee, poop and TP (and any brand will do). Have never had a problem except with the current FW that had a faulty valve from the factory, now fixed.

No no, I'm just saying at the ends. Curve the edges too. It would only be another 6" I'm thinking. Doesn't have to taper to a pipe size.

I generally will dump ice from the ice chest down the toilet, or grab a small bag at a store, and let that slosh around. Theoretically, the ice should have the shot peen power to break up any solids and obviously will melt into water during the drive.
Dont know if it works well or if it makes the poop freeze but i havent had issues in the past.

OK I hate to say it but I've seen a lot of experiments on ice in black tank. It doesn't do anything at all according to the findings. There is a brilliant youtube video on this. When I find it I will post the link.

Ill disagree. Ive seen some of the videos as well and I dont know about you, but what comes out of me isn't a can of refried beans onto a dry tank bottom. Also, the ice may not clean everything but it can help with paper that has been already sitting in water, body wastes, etc. Generally, wastes have already been breaking down a bit in the tank for a while. The ice is just to help on the ride home.
You may be correct that it doesn't work but I generally already have the ice, or it costs a couple dollars or so.
I have never had issues before and my gauges have always seemed to work so I will continue to do it, but then again I have always had good luck with my black tank when I drive sitting in the driver's seat instead of the passengers seat so maybe that is having as much effect as the ice.

HaHa...it just reminded me of a grade school joke that went around about putting ice in a toilet.....I think they beat your post to death, but you have the info, how you do it is just a personal preference, the people who have problems generally don't dump it correctly leaving too much in the tank or not dumping prior to storage.

If it were my never used/had anything in it black tank, I would dump about 1/2 bottle of a real cheap liquid fabric softener in and add about 5 gal of water. Drive to first camping location and use from there. I've used fabric softener in my moterhome and a 5ver i had. A friend that worked in the industry for told me about. I add about a cap full to the tank after every flush. Can't prove it works, but doesn't seem to hurt anything either. I also use Scotts Septic Safe TP.
Have fun and many happy adventures.
