L14-30R generator outlet to RV

Is it okay (and safe ) to just use one hot leg of the 220v L14-30R outlet on my generator wired to the single 30 amp blade of the TT-30 plug on my camper ? I can wire it up no problem. But I had been reading that it produces an unbalanced load on my generator.

Can this process be safely done without harm to my generator ?

I know that they sell adapters that perform this exact function.

Opinions seem to vary.

Not sure if it's bad for the generator but I have one of the adaptors and it powers my RV fine.

The only problem is with the generator. If you try to pull all 30 amps from one leg, it MAY not like it. It should be equipped with breaker that would deal with that.

Good Luck
